Zen Biology and the Brain

The mind body is an "it" and not a "me"

We are the still alert silent awareness that watches the 'me'
We are the silent formless observer

We are not the form

We are the silent aware mind
Infinitely beyond everything
The formless all of being

30 DAYS on an Indian Reservation

I heard my family in California complaining that they couldn't manage on the water ration of 100 gal a day for 2 people...on the Indian Reservation, they have no running water, and drive to a well to collect water-and use 10 gal a day for a family.

It makes me marvel at how unaware we are of what is going on in our country.

Kiva.org

Kiva.org is an amazing little idea. Individual people can become a lender to assist an entrepreneur in another country. You can choose a specific person to lend to, and allow them to lift themselves out of poverty.

Take a look at this great idea!

"Every Creature is a word of God"

Thoughts for today from Meister Eckhart, a 12th century philosopher and spiritual leader.

"Only the hand that erases can write the true thing".

"The eye with which I see God is the same eye with which God sees me."

How the Brain Rewires Itself

Time Health and Science had an interesting article on
How the Brain Rewires Itself

Could it be that we are at the forefront of brain technology?
Could it be that as I come to the end of this 2 year training-I'm going to be in the right place at the right time?

Stranger things have happened.

The brain, the bio computer that runs us-can be influenced. The brain, the hardware of how we operate in the world, feel, and see, think, and come to conclusions-can be changed.

Of course it can!

Neuroplasticity and Healing

The Brain That Changes Itself is a new best seller written by Dr. Norman Doidge.

This is the website. I bought the book in the airport yesterday and happily read it on the way home. He's chock full of anecdotal records of people that have changed their brain when told it couldn't be done.

Right on the front of his website it says: "The discovery of neuroplasticity, that our thoughts can change the structure and function of our brains, even into old age, is the most important breakthrough in our understanding of the brain in four hundred years."

Well, we in thetahealing land KNEW that. We, in reiki, and shaman and alternative healing fields, KNEW that. While this isn't new news to us, it SHOULD make you all feel vindicated.

Keep on changing those beliefs, changing those feelings, clearing and healing.
Keep on doing what you are doing, and keep on getting those inexplicable healings and changes.
Love to you all!

Loving the World

chakras are really swirls of light, and the colors are based on a predominance of color and movement. The thought that they are only one color is not correct. Love yourself, and the colors change. Love the world, and they change yet again.

Keep giving to yourself, loving yourself, and you will love the world, and the world will love you back.
Each moment becomes a dynamic interaction based on the energy of L O V E

Seeing Between the worlds

The eyes really see two images and the brain integrates them into one. WHen everything is working, they overlap and the brain fills in the 'blindspot'.

When you look at a thetagraph, also called a sterogram, your two eyes see one image.
But! If you begin to 'let go' of the one image, you soon see a wholly different 'something'.
This happens when you let your eyes perceive the different images, and you can begin to see 'between the worlds', or what is really hidden beneath/between what your brain is showing us.

It's a great exercise to play with, and begins to teach your brain to perceive in a new way.

Here are a few to play with:
EYETRICKS.COM

Some say to stare intently, some say to stare slightly above the image itself. I tend to have more success by going 'through' the image. In all cases, you are playing with letting your eyes NOTdeliver one image to you.

Hint: the less you try, the better you do. Isn't that the truth!

Orbs of Light

When we speak of 'orbs' what do you think they mean?
Orbs of light are sometimes perceived by the eye, sometimes by the lens in photos taken later.

ORBS OF LIGHT is a website with some great orb photos.

It depends who's talking about them as to what their interpretation is.
Aliens?
Physic connections to spirits?
Transcended beings?
Ghosts?

What we do know is they are a presence that seems to be drawn when we are connecting, centered, and often when we are bringing through higher knowledge and teaching. Often in beautiful places in nature-are they there because we feel a certain way?

I've seen them inside, outside, fireside. I've seen them in dreams too. I've seen them with eyes open, eyes closed. I don't think there is only one answer.

Between the Legs of the Mother

A sacred shape, brought through as metaphor, archetype, journey, becoming. The mandorla, symbols within symbols, shapes upon shapes. Seen as pieces, as a whole. What does it mean to you? Cropping up in every civilization, in every incarnation it speaks to us from the depths of the mythic self. The place of the feminine emergence, of life emerging, of our own rebirth.
Mandorla.

As you gaze upon it, what does it say to you? What does it say about you? Who are you moving into?

Crones Don't Whine

Crone is the word for 'older' woman. Wise woman. Woman of years.

I'm not ready to be a Crone. I think it has a wrinkled sort of sound. What comes to mind is that tottering old medicine woman with long white hair, gnarled fingers, and a wart.

Crone....can't we come up with a better word?

But. A friend just sent me a book to read. "Crones Don't Whine". It's written by Jean Shenoda Bolen, MD. She says crones are about inner development, not outer appearance...my thighs just sighed.

She has a list of 13 qualities we should cultivate. Here they are:

1. Crones don't whine - it blocks spiritual growth
2. Crones are juicy - with zest, passion, and soul
3. Crones have green thumbs
4. Crones trust what they know in their bones
5. Crones meditate in their fashion
6. Crones are fierce about what matters to them
7. Crones choose the path with heart
8. Crones speak the truth with compassion
9. Crones listen to their bodies
10. Crones improvise
11. Crones laugh together
13. Crones savor the good in their lives

then she says:
Exceptional men can be crones
and my favorite...Crones together can change the world

So maybe this is what the LOL is about? Maybe we are taking a wisdom stand? A crone stand? She says " I envision a third wave of grass-roots international feminism taking the form of women's circles with a spiritual center. When women come together with a commitment to each other, they are creating a vessel of transformation."

Ok ok...let me run 'crone' around the block again...

Transmissions and Initiations

The Laika, the Qero, are the children of light. They call themselves this, they think of themselves this way. They are both light keepers, as well as light livers. The only time I've seen people radiating the same sort of luminosity were Tibetan monks that had come from Tibet to give energetic transmissions to us.

There was a shining radiance that emitted from their skin, a calmness that came from inside, a walk with that light in a way we can recognize but few can emulate. What is it about that sort of luminous beingness?

It comes from absolute connection. I suppose that this is what Jesus must have looked and felt like to those that gathered about him. The sense that here was someone that knew something, lived something that we didn't. But the message is that we can too.

The transmissions are an energetic engagement. They begin to attune you to receive frequencies, and so information, at the energetic level, first. The explanation, the translation if you will, comes later. First, you receive, then you open, then you accept, then you can articulate. Until then, you might find yourself releasing and clearing.

This can be gentle, or it can be rough. How tenacious are you in holding to the old dense ways? One can't make the jump to light, without letting go of what holds you down and back. This 'something' that holds us, can be at the level of identity, and it can hold us at the level of archetype. Archetype means a field of beliefs and a map of being that is deeply encoded in the unconscious. It expresses itself in our actions and relationships.

The only thing that stops us from moving forward is fear. Fear of who we will be without this story, this way in the world. As we work on our beliefs and engagements consciously, the transmissions work at the energetic. We begin to feel the shifts at the energetic as they come into our awareness through the mental and emotional levels.

Buddhist Colors of Light

In the Buddhist tradition they have 5 chakra spaces that they focus on. The colors they assign to these centers are also different than the Hindu, but in terms of mixing light, it makes perfect sense, and fits with how I was instructed from those Luminous Light beings that came in when I was having my NDE.

The base chakra is green
The heart is blue
The throat is red

Those are the 3 primary colors in light, the three frequencies that come into our system before we have density.

The abdomen is yellow
which represents intelligent thought in terms of light teaching. It only develops as a complimentary balance of green and red-red is primal life force and going out into the world, and green which is our connection to the mother, to that which feeds and nurtures us.

The crown is white
and incorporates the third eye as it is the whole top of the head.

What have they simplified? The heart, as blue, covers both the heart and the solar plexus. This makes total sense in terms of healing with light as I was instructed to use blue in the solar plexus to heal the heart chakra.

The Qero, the Laika, the Children of Light, originated in the high Himilayas...same roots?

You May Throw Your Arms Around Me

I will come for you at night time
and I will raise you from your sleep
I will kiss you in four places
as I go running up your street
and I will squeeze the life out of you
You will make me laugh and make me cry
We may never forget it
You will make me call your name and I'll shout it to the blue summer sky
and We may never meet again
So shed your skin - let's get started
And you may throw your arms around me

And you may throw your arms around me

Well I came for you at nighttime
And I watched you in your sleep
Lord, I met you in high places
I kissed your head and kissed your feet
Now if you disappear out of view
You know, I will never say goodbye
and Though I try to forget it
You will make me call your name and I'll shout it to the blue summer sky

and We may never meet again
So shed your skin and get started
And you may throw your arms around me

and we may never meet again
so shed your skin and let's get started

Yeah you may throw you arms around me
Yeah you may

Here's to the light!

Do Shamans Dance Naked by the Moon?

It's such a good question, but, sorry, I gotta say if that had been part of the deal, you'd have never gotten me there. Nope. Not naked. Now, some do I suppose, but not I. I'm not a prude. I just have no desire to shock the world with my thighs. While I love the beautiful print in the sand that my butt might leave, I will tell you, that it's not such a beautiful site neeked. I'll keep it to myself, thanks. Would I if I had the butt of Bo Derek? Oh...hmmm...that's such a good question too! I just might! If it didn't jiggle when I juggle, I just might, yes indeedie.

Having said that, we DO dance by firelight. With our clothes on.

We also rattle, sing, drum. It's a lot of fun. And sometimes we have silent fires. It's all about intent. Some nights the fire is joyful and we all laugh. Some nights it's solemn and serene. You never know what comes out at the fire. It's healing. It's releasing. It changes and it delights. Fire is the great friend and com buster. We do love our fire. Fire is sacred which means it's honored. It's a living energy and we respect it and enter the fire when it invites us. The fire becomes friendly and we thank it.

Fire is always about change.

What is living a shamanic life?

I'm usually asked if shamanism is a religion, which makes me smile. It's a spiritual connection. It awakens within you a walk with the life force of everything-but is that religion? Well, not the way most of us were taught religion.

No, it's not a religion. Keep your religion. And explore your spiritual connection.

It's a deep communion with nature. It's learning a new language. It's waking to the dream. Shamanism is creating peace within and peace around you. It's becoming conscious, and it's becoming responsible. It's connecting to all living thing, and honoring the rhythm of the earth. And it's personal.

My teacher said "The shaman no longer looks for meaning in life, but brings meaning to every situation. The shaman stops looking for truth and instead brings truth to every encounter." I think this is a brilliant summation.

Shamanism is an active practice, focused on healing. It's a living path. It's the pollen path. It's been called so many things, and still it reverberates around the world with a call to come back to center, come back to home, and come into service.

He once told me, "we all have a future, but not all of us have a destiny." But now he says "You are here to fulfill a destiny. When you have trauma that occurs in your life, your destiny is derailed. It becomes fate. Fate is a story that's been written for you by somebody else. Destiny is a story you write."

What is the story of your destiny? If you are the author, what is your hero/heroine about to do?

We are all on the verge of our greatest adventure! What do you choose to dream the world into being?

It's time to step away from the fateful story that was written for you. Put it in the fire. And dream on!

Noticing

This work, and by that I mean, ALL of the sensitivity training, is really aimed at becoming more aware in the moment.

When we gather the past to us, and heal it, we are really bringing more of our vital life force to us in the now.

When we become aware of the energetic communications from all of life around us, the wind, the water, the animals, the tones of life, we are awakening to support, and to a language of symbol, metaphor and energy.

When we allow ourselves to open and heal, move and clear, we are really allowing ourselves to return to our original state, our state of joy. We had it as children, and many of us lost it quite young.

Isn't it time to welcome the child back to the light? Isn't it time we imagined the world a beautiful, gentle, safe place, because only when we can imagine it, can we create it. We have to be able to allow ourselves to dwell in the possible so that we can invite magic and magical intervention-BACK to us.

How far back do you have to go to find the magical child inside you? Where did you hide her? And what if it's time? I think we need to all embrace our child/children inside and bring back the light.
